Strategic Move Extends Microsoft Technical Expertise, Capabilities and Enables Private Cloud Delivery Across Both VMware and Hyper-V Hypervisor Platforms
March 10, 2015. CHICAGO, IL – SingleHop, a leading provider of on-demand hosted private clouds and managed hosting, today announced its acquisition of Server Intellect, a leading provider of Microsoft managed hosting solutions. The acquisition marks a milestone for SingleHop, enabling it to deploy private clouds powered by both leading hypervisor platforms used by enterprises today. The acquisition reinforces SingleHop’s strategy to offer comprehensive dedicated and virtual private cloud hosting solutions that deliver the advanced automation, speed-to-market, robust security and proven cost-efficiency that today’s enterprises require.
“Server Intellect brings an incredible amount of expertise in a wide range of Microsoft-based hosting technologies,” said Zak Boca CEO of SingleHop, “As a top-to-bottom Microsoft shop with an unparalleled level of experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, Server Intellect was the obvious choice for expanding SingleHop’s private cloud platform into the Windows ecosystem. There was an undeniable, innate synergy in our respective focus and mission that made the collaboration a natural fit.”
Addressing Market Expansion Through Combined Strength
Over half of the enterprise hypervisor market has already standardized on the VMware platform, but Microsoft’s Hyper-V has been gaining significant ground, climbing to over 30% of hypervisor market as of late 2014, according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker Report. Combined, the VMware and Hyper-V platforms account for over 80% of the global enterprise hypervisor market.
With BaaS, companies are able to outsource critical tasks and meet long-term retention requirements without the need to assess storage requirements, purchase and maintain equipment, or get bogged down in infrastructure management. All SingleHop services offered to customers directly or through the channel are backed by one of the strongest SLAs in the industry and a unique Partner Bill of Rights.
“At the end of the day, it’s our customers who will benefit from being able to choose from the two leading hypervisors when deploying their hosted private clouds on our platform,” said Andy Pace, COO of SingleHop. “For many enterprises, Microsoft Hyper-V is the best choice, and we are committed to extending SingleHop solutions to a broader set of customers.”
Delivering Customer Advantage
SingleHop has completed all necessary integrations with Server Intellect to expand its traditionally VMware-powered hosted cloud offerings to support Microsoft Hyper-V immediately. Server Intellect’s existing customers can immediately take advantage of SingleHop’s powerful infrastructure automation platform, which dramatically accelerates the provisioning of servers and services from days to minutes.
All underlying infrastructure components for hosting solutions from both companies will be deployed by SingleHop’s award-winning orchestration platform, which automates much of the deployment process, resulting in a dramatically faster time-to-market, fewer errors and more agility than other providers.
“With SingleHop there was total alignment and a like-mindedness in our pursuit to build solutions that meet customer needs,” said Adam Cady, CTO of Server Intellect. “Together, we’re deepening our bench of highly skilled hosting and cloud experts while continuing to focus on the highest level of customer care and satisfaction.”
SingleHop Business Momentum, Putting Funding to Good Use
Since its founding in 2006, SingleHop has seen steady growth and revenue amassing more than 5,000 customers. Attracting over $40 million in funding since 2012, with approximately $15 million received in 2014, SingleHop has delivered on its goals to make investments in infrastructure and services to drive adoption of private cloud throughout the enterprise.
This targeted growth is clearly demonstrated through SingleHop’s $30 million state-of-the-art, Tier IV data center in Chicago unveiled in January, and the Server Intellect acquisition, SingleHop’s first. The acquisition is a strong strategic and cultural fit poised to drive immediate new business opportunities across customers and markets. With this momentum, SingleHop will continue to explore every opportunity to scale its operations and continually develop its robust partner network and managed service expertise.
