SPAM Policy/CAN-SPAM Compliance Statement
SingleHop SPAM/Bulk E-mail Marketing Policy
SingleHop has designed this policy to comply with the US CAN-SPAM Act as well as industry standards for managing the SPAM problem.
When we receive a SPAM complaint, we will abide by the following policy:
- We will identify the source server of the E-mail that was the subject of the complaint.
- We will track the number of complaints that a particular server receives and will abide by the following strike policy.
- We define a "strike" as one separate instance of SPAM. An instance of SPAM is defined as one marketing E-mail.
- An instance can contain numerous complaints.
On the first instance of spam, we will:
- Provide the complaint to the client, and assess a $25 fine.
- After the first complaint, we will levy a processing charge (penalty charge) of $25.00 per complaint received. If three complaints is reached, service will be terminated.
- If an IP range or IP address has been black listed as a result of the SPAM complaint, we will level a fine of $200 on the first and terminate service.
- When receiving a complaint, we will notify the customer of the complaint.
- On the first complaint we will warn the client.
- On the second complaint we will levy a penalty charge of $25.00 per complaint received.
- On the third complaint we will terminate service and levy a fine of $25.00 per additional complaint received.
- Regarding hacked servers: If we suspect that your server has been hacked in an effort to send SPAM e-mail, we will:
- Offer one free OS reload per server as a result of spamming.
- If the client has General Services we will offer to investigate the server and spent up to two hours cleaning up. Note: It is virtually impossible to clean up and remove all traces of a hack on a server. We highly recommend that once a server has been compromised for any purpose, including SPAM, that the server be reinstalled from scratch.
- On the second instance of hacking we may, at our discretion, terminate service. If you refused an OS reload then we will assume that the client is capable of expelling the intruder, and if you are not we will fine the customer $25.00 per complaint as stated above.
Finally, we reserve the right to log into a customer server to investigate SPAM complaints and, depending on the circomstances, bill at the rate of $75.00 per hour to investigate complaints.
