Useful Windows & Linux Dedicated Server Downloads

SingleHop offers Windows 2003 dedicated servers and Linux dedicated servers, and there are tools that make managing both operating systems possible. I have compiled this list by asking around the network operations center, and I think that you'll find them useful as well.

Regardless of operating system, the following downloads may be useful to you:
Filezilla -- $ FREE
A robust file transfer client that you can use to copy large numbers of files to and from your server fairly quickly. Click the 'Site Manager' button to create and save your settings. The 'Site Manager' window will appear. Click the 'New Site' button and enter your server account information. Host, User and password should be the fields you need to change. Next click on the connect button.

You can upload or download a file automatically by double-clicking on it. To transfer folders and/or multiple files, select them and right-click the selection, then click on Upload/Download in the context menu. This works for Windows dedicated servers as well as Linux dedicated servers.
Network-tools.com --$ FREE
This is a great website that is a great resource to make sure your domain is pointing to the right dedicated server, where they may be a connection problem between you and your dedicated server. And much much more. One you are on the website type in your domain name and select Express and you will get all the information about your site that network-tools can provide. If you want more specific results you can select individual options.

Linux Dedicated Server Downloads
Putty - SSH client for windows --$ FREE
Putty is a windows ssh client that you can use to manage your linux web hosting server while on a windows machine. When you start PuTTY, you will see a dialog box. This dialog box allows you to control everything PuTTY can do. There are a lot of options but you can use the default settings. In the `Host Name' box, enter the Internet host name or IP address of the server, if needed change the port number, then press the open button. You will begin the connection to your linux dedicated server.

WinSCP – Secure Linux File Transfer Client -- $ FREE
When you need to transfer files securely to your linux dedicated server this is the program you want. WinSCP combines FTP with SSH to deliver encrypted file transfer. Just put in your hostname(or IP address), username, and password, select the server’s protocol, and then click Login. You will be presented with a Split window file manager that you can use to click and drag items between your desktop and server.
