Available Control Panels: cPanel Dedicated Servers & Plesk Dedicated Servers
To many non-technical users of web hosting services, using a web hosting server can be daunting at times, with all of the seemingly complicated commands and sometimes confusing file organization setups. However, there are options for both non-technical and technical users of dedicated servers that will make working with your server a breeze.
This solution is known as the control panel or cpanel for dedicated servers, which provides an easy to use interface for managing your web hosting services. The two control panels SingleHop offers to it's customers are cPanel dedicated servers and Plesk dedicated servers. cPanel dedicated servers and Plesk dedicated servers both offer powerful graphical user interfaces which are easily accessed via your web browser, and offer both the basic options for configuring a new website and the advanced configuration options for the more technical users. On top of that, the advanced options are just as easy to set up for the less experienced user as they are for the intermediate/advanced user. With cPanel dedicated servers and Plesk dedicated servers, you can rest assured that your site will be easy to set up and maintain.
Of course, as with all software, cPanel dedicated servers and Plesk dedicated servers have their differences. With a cPanel dedicated server, the level of administration provided to the user accessing the cPanel Dedicated server is based both on privileges assigned by the administrator of the dedicated server and by which panel they decide to access. With cPanel dedicated servers, the highest level of administrative functions are housed in one control panel, called Web Hosting Manager, or WHM for short. This cpanel for dedicated servers is intended for use only by the system administrator or primary technical contact of the server. Here you can create individual web hosting accounts, perform system-wide backups, and change the system-wide configurations of the individual services hosted on your cPanel dedicated server. The individual users of the dedicated server will use the cPanel dedicated server interface, which is provided via a slightly different web address. In this panel, the individual users can perform backups of their sites, restore their sites, create e-mail and FTP accounts, and perform other general administration tasks that are specific to their website hosted on the cPanel dedicated server.
However, with Plesk dedicated servers, all of the functions provided by the control panel are accessed by the same web address and access control is based purely on the privileges assigned to the individual user. Administrators and Normal Users alike will be able to perform all necessary tasks, whether it's a simple single-site backup or configuring service options, thus tailoring their web hosting to their needs. With Plesk dedicated servers, the interface itself will be different based upon the access level of the user. Another major difference with Plesk dedicated servers is that the Plesk dedicated server control panel works on both Linux AND Microsoft Windows based dedicated servers.
Regardless of these differences, both Plesk dedicated servers and cPanel dedicated servers both offer powerful control over the dedicated web hosting solution that will provide great flexibility with minimal complexity to both the system administrator and the individual user alike.
