Zak Boca has been an executive and entrepreneur in the infrastructure and web hosting space for
more than 10 years. Prior to his involvement with SingleHop, Mr. Boca co-founded and operated
midPhase, a web hosting provider with over 160,000 customers.
Mr. Boca has been recognized by numerous national publications for his leadership.
In 2006, Mr Boca was nominated for Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year, and went
on to be a Reader's Choice Entrepreneur of the Year for 2006. In 2010, Mr. Boca was
nominated to Crain's 40 under 40 in Chicago, as well as appearing in the TechWeek 100
list, and receiving both an Illinois Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011, and Kentucky
Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2011. In his off time, Zak can be found traveling
and exploring the great outdoors with family and friends.
Dan began his career in the internet infrastructure industry at midPhase Services,
Inc., a shared hosting provider that grew to over 150,000 customers before being
acquired by UK2 Group. At midPhase, Dan contributed heavily to its rise from a small
company to one of the largest shared hosting providers in the United States with over
150,000 customers and $18 million in revenue.
At SingleHop, Dan focuses on the company’s marketing strategy and operations,
leading the company’s growing marketing team and working to bridge the gap
between marketing, sales and technology. Dan believes heavily in differentiation,
and focuses on highlighting SingleHop’s unique and powerful technology platform
which helps it stand out from its competitors in a saturated and fragmented marketplace.
Dan regularly attends and speaks at industry and marketing events. As a recognized
thought leader in online marketing, Dan is one of the few internet marketing
professionals to hold a Horizon Award for Marketing Innovation. When he isn’t
working, Dan can be found in his kitchen whipping up homemade BBQ sauce, or in
front of the grill with a spatula putting that sauce to work.
Andy has built his career in the internet infrastructure industry, holding positions at an
early age as a server build technician to system administrator. This experience helped Andy
become one of the industry’s most respected and well known technologists. As the Chief
Operating Officer for SingleHop, Andy oversees everything from data center operations,
to server installs, to the implementation of new products.
While Andy holds numerous technology certifications, his most valuable attribute is his
decades-long real-world experience in the field. Leveraging that experience, Andy brings
a rare blend of technical know-how and operational foresight that helps him lead SingleHop’s
world class operations team.
Today, Andy uses his talents to enhance the customer experience at SingleHop and keep SingleHop
on the ‘bleeding’ edge of technology in the industry. When Andy isn’t working on SingleHop’s
operations or infrastructure, he leverages his technical expertise to master the science
of brewing beer.
Chris, a Chicago native and University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana alumni, is our
Chief Financial Officer. Chris brings over 20 years of accounting and finance experience
to the SingleHop team. He has a diverse background, having worked in public accounting,
strategic consulting, and for both privately-owned and publicly-traded businesses in the
CFO role. Before joining SingleHop, Chris was CFO for Rewards Network, Inc., a publicly
traded firm focused on loyalty marketing for the restaurant industry. At SingleHop,
Chris is responsible for all accounting, finance and administrative functions of the
company, and is focused on building the internal infrastructure needed to support
SingleHop's continued growth.
When he isn’t working, you can find him exploring Chicago’s restaurants, working on his
home-brew computer entertainment center or working out to P90X2 or Insanity in his man-cave.
Steve Pace has been in the information technology arena for nearly 30 years with extensive sales and operations experience in the areas of security,
managed services, hosting, SaaS, network and storage management. Prior to joining Single Hop, Steve spent 10 years in the security space with global
sales, marketing, services and operations responsibilities, most recently with Core Security and GeoTrust. Prior to GeoTrust, Steve was responsible for
NaviSite’s Worldwide Sales and Marketing organization, NetScout’s Sales Organization, and Seagate Software’s Worldwide Sales and Marketing Organization.
Earlier in his career, Steve held multiple sales and engineering positions at IBM.
Steve graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with honors and a degree in Electrical Engineering, and he also studied at the University of Arizona
while at IBM. He has served on the Customer Advisory Board with the College of Information and Technology at Penn State for the past seven years..
Kyle comes to SingleHop from South Bend, Indiana with a degree in Computer Information
Technology from Purdue University and a burning passion for the intersection of technology
and sales. With his extensive background in IT and over eight years experience in the web
hosting industry, Kyle now heads the direct sales department for SingleHop.
As Direct Sales Manager, Kyle manages the day to day operations of SingleHop’s
Direct Sales Team, and ensures the department operates at maximum productivity
and profitability while building a new client base. Kyle uses his sales expertise
and in depth knowledge of the hosting industry to effectively run his team while also
managing all SingleHop internal VIP clients directly, and fostering team spirit. Kyle
prides himself on his data-driven approach to managing a technology-focused sales team,
and likes to say that his results speak for themselves.
Ted’s career in the Internet industry began while working his way through college as a waiter
where he started the city’s first restaurant and bar dining guide – chicagorestaurant.com.
This experience propelled him to a data communications path career path in management and
channel sales positions with Global Crossing, PAETEC, Level 3 and finally, Fiber, Inc.
before coming to SingleHop.
At SingleHop, Ted is responsible for building, launching, and managing our channel sales
organization, which is designed to help system integrators, agents, IT consultants,
and value added resellers increase their revenues by leveraging cloud computing technologies.
Ted holds a B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Business
Administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, with a concentration
in Finance, Strategic Management and Economics. Ted lives in Chicago with his wife and three
children. When he isn’t working or taking care of his infant daughter, he can found attempting
to play to the guitar or scuba diving and fishing in the Caribbean.
Jennie Sullivan, originally from Chicago’s south side, is a native of the midwest and holds a degree in Political Science with an emphasis on International Studies from the University of Kansas. Jennie joined SingleHop in late 2010 and is responsible for all of the company’s account management and customer service functions. Jennie and her team report directly to the company CFO and are responsible for all-things customer service related.
Marc is a hosting industry veteran, an avid technology enthusiast and thinker with over a
decade of experience in the hosting industry. As SingleHop’s Senior Project Manager, Marc
and his team are behind many of SingleHop’s technical innovations, such as LEAP and the
DropZone API. By leveraging Marc’s decade of industry and development experience, the
SingleHop development team has been able to stay ahead of the curve with innovative
products Cascade virtualization platform, and the DropZone API, which allows customers
to integrate their systems with SingleHop’s platform.
Before SingleHop, Marc worked at industry leading providers, midPhase Services,
Inc., and Hosting Services, Inc., and has been directly involved in many different
IT infrastructure projects. Marc believes strongly in automating anything that needs
to be done more than once, because automation reduces mistakes, speeds up service
delivery and improves operational efficiency.
When he isn’t working, you can find him exploring Chicago with his wife, Jodi,
and his friends and family.
Austin Wilson, our Director of Networking and Senior Network Engineer, is a transplant
from from Phoenix, Arizona with 14 years of network administration experience in service
provider and hosting environments.
Austin has been a senior network engineer for the last five years, bringing with him
a wide range of experience directly related to the hosting industry. Austin holds CCNA
and CCNP certifications, as well as a deep understanding of MPLS networking.
By leveraging advanced networking technologies and methodologies, Austin is able to
provide a more efficient use of resources with improved resiliency.
Before SingleHop, Austin held numerous leadership positions in the field of
computer networking, and, among other things, helped to design an international
BGP network to provide customers greater control over their routes and improved
security for a major bandwidth and IP transit provider. Austin also helped build
and launch a Tier-2 transit provider in 13 major markets in the United States and Canada.
When he isn’t working on building out SingleHop’s network, you can find Austin
out and about with friends and family.
David Szczur, our Director of Facilities, joined SingleHop in 2007. Born and raised in the
South Chicago suburbs, Dave is a seasoned performance hardware enthusiast. In his daily
responsibilities, Dave oversees and all hardware vendor relations, research, selection,
procurement, staffing and monitoring for all three of SingleHop’s data centers.
Over the years, David has managed numerous data center launches for SingleHop,
including its two newest facilities in Elk Grove Village, Illinois and Phoenix,
Arizona. Today, Dave spends his time managing three data centers and planning the
fourth. When he isn’t managing data centers, he likes to jam with his band or work
on his hardware rig at home.
With over a decade of experience in Linux and Windows System Administration, Matt Berry
oversees all technical support operations for SingleHop. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree
in liberal arts. Since starting his career in the hosting industry in 2006, he has helped
architect and manage numerous technical support teams. Matt holds a number of industry
certifications, including Parallels certification, and manages one of the fastest
growing teams in the company.
Matt joined SingleHop as a Senior Administrator, and quickly leveraged his extensive
experience in Linux and Windows system administration, networking, and his sharp and
potent customer service skills to work his way up into the Support Manager role, which
he currently holds today. When not working on servers, you can find him playing with
his daughters and exploring all that Chicago has to offer.
Deanna Swanson is Director of Human Resources with SingleHop. She sits on the company’s
senior management team and works closely with the CEO to establish best practices across
the organization. Swanson is responsible for the management and development of over 90
SingleHop employees.
Prior to joining SingleHop, Swanson held human resource leadership positions with the
Chicago Fire Soccer Club, Driehaus Capital Management, LLC and Jewish Vocational
Service.
Swanson has over 9 years of experience with talent acquisition and management,
organizational development, culture change and leadership and staff coaching.
Some of the initiatives that she is working on include a broad reaching on-boarding
plan, career development paths, continued change management and culture shifting.
She proudly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public
Administration from Augustana College as well as a Masters degree in Human
Resources from Loyola University. Deanna lives in Chicago with her husband and sons.
