2008 SingleHop in the News

06.12.2008 - Young Copy | Developing A Winning Advertising Slogan
"...Back to the two sides of a company slogan. Even though the entire slogan should represent your company and what you do for customers, the first side should represent your company's services in one or two words. Jot down a few words that describe your company's solutions, services, or products. For example, SingleHop, a managed dedicated server company, created the "We Manage IT Differently" slogan. Again we see a play on words using "it" and "IT" for Information Technology..."

04.11.2008 - ISP Planet | Why You Would Offer a Server for $1 for One Month
We last spoke with Chicago-based SingleHop a year ago (see SingleHop Extends the Dedicated Servers Trend) to learn the company's story and its history. We checked in again recently to learn about the company's headline-grabbing promotional offer of a dedicated server for $1 for one month (after which the user chooses to renew for service at the full price or to abandon the service).

08.07.2007 - Crains | Tight space for data centers prompts move by SingleHop
(Crain's Business) In a deal that reflects the tight market for data center space for small companies, a rapidly growing web hosting company is switching from a South Loop facility to a newer one on the Near West Side.

02.22.2007 - FindMyHost | Interview with Zak Boca, President of SingleHop
SingleHop was established in late 2006. Our parent company, midPhase.com, hosts over 75,000 customers, and has been in operation for nearly four years. I co-founded midPhase, and eventually transitioned in to running our dedicated server division, which in late 2005 really began picking up steam. I had a strong interest in that segment of the business, and I also felt that there were some improvements that could be made to types of managed services available at the time.

02.13.2007 - businessweek | Gift Wrap-Valentine's Day
Hackers love to take advantage of an increased likeliness of computer users to open e-cards and attachments they might usually avoid on the big day, warns Chicago-based managed dedicated server provider SingleHop Inc. Viruses could be hidden in emails with appealing subject lines like "Together You and I" or "I Love You," the company warned.

01.30.2007 - chicagoist | The Place to Be Was TECH Cocktail 3
A highlight of the party were some 3-foot-tall ice sculptures in the shape of frogs, sponsored by SingleHop, that were used to make the strongest appletinis that we've ever tasted. The drinks were served in glow-in-the-dark glasses and everyone had glow-in-the-dark wristbands on.

01.11.2007 - ISP PLANET | SingleHop Separates Managed Services
"We started with $1,500 in credit card debt. For the first few months, we put everything back into the business. I was holding down a pizza job and attending college. We worked 80, 90 hours per week, and were growing at a phenomenal rate. For 2003, our revenue was $120,000 (of course, that's for half a year). For 2004, it was $1.4 million (that's when we made our first hire). For 2007, we're predicting $10 million in revenue."

11.03.2006 - THEWHIR | SingleHop Separates Managed Services
Managed services can save SMBs and enterprises the cost of managing their online applications. That much has been made clear by the managed hosting market. But some customers may be spending more than they need to, buying managed services as a blanket service including many levels of management that specific customers may not actually need.
