Chicago, IL: September 29, 2009: SingleHop, a leader in managed, dedicated and complex web hosting, today announced the release of a new firewall product dubbed SnapShield. The on-demand firewall system enables small and medium sized clients to quickly deploy an advanced Cisco-powered™ hardware firewall, for a fraction of the cost of having their own dedicated hardware firewall. SingleHop clients will enjoy the seamless control of their on-demand firewall due to its direct integration into LEAP, the web-hosts' comprehensive server management software accessible online, on a desktop application and through various mobile devices including Android, iPhone and Blackberry.
The cost savings are possible because the SnapShield firewall is 100% virtualized and administered on the network level; meaning it does not require any physical rewiring or installation, furthermore, to facilitate client's implementation of SnapShield, SingleHop has provided several pre-configuration options focus on the most popular server setups.
"From the start, LEAP was designed to offer our clients more flexibility and control, " commented President & CEO Zak Boca. "With the addition of SnapShield, LEAP now offers a set of features unmatched by other server providers. Clients now can deploy an affordable and advanced hardware firewall in less than a minute, something that used to take days and is simply not available with many of our competitors." The on-demand firewall system is available currently at SingleHop's newest data center just northwest of downtown Chicago, IL. The firewall, powered by Cisco Systems, features some advanced and notable features, including:
• Application awareness
• SSL and IPsec VPN
• Intrusion Prevention
• Automatic anti-virus, anti-spam and anti-phishing protection
SnapShield is available currently inside the LEAP web-top interface. SingleHop plans to offer mobile firewall deployment and configuration via LEAP mobile within the next six months.
